Physical Examination
An examination of the muscle and skeletal systems of the body is used to determine any problems a patient may be experiencing. This exam includes orthopedic, muscle, and neurological testing. Combined with a consultation regarding past and current disease and injury, this procedure directs the doctor to a correct assessment of the patient's condition.
Chiropractic Adjustment
A chiropractic adjustment involves a controlled force applied to a joint which is not functioning properly. This force is used to re-align the joint so that a normal range of motion can be restored. A joint that is not functioning properly can cause stiffness and pain both in the joint and in the soft tissue surrounding the joint. When the condition becomes severe enough, the nerves passing through the joint become involved and can send pain radiating to other parts of the body.
Physiotherapy
The use of ultrasound, electrical muscle stimulation, stretching, massage, trigger point therapy, percussion and other manual therapies to treat soft tissue injury such as tendonitis, muscle spasm, plantar fasciitis and other ailments of the muscle and skeletal systems.
Therapeautic Exercise
The use of specific physical activities designed to aid in the recovery of injury to a region of the body. These exercises can also be employed to develope endurance and help speed the recovery process by promoting flexibility and cardiovascular benefit.
Therapeutic Massage
The use of manual therapy that may include tapotement, roulement, pincemaent, effleurage, petrissage, pressure technic, cupping and other forms of deep and shallow massage techniques for the purpose of restoring flexibility and tone to muscle groups and other soft tissue.
Orthotics
Custom designed and fitted insoles or footwear used to correct problems with the arches of the soles of the feet. Many ankle, leg and back conditions can be directly attributed to foot disorders. Custom orthotics offer support to the arches and bones of the feet. This support enables the foot to perform correctly and can help reduce the symtoms of many low cback disorders.
Computer based scanning of the feet is available for all patients to help evaluate the need for custom orthotics.
